PUBLIC NOTICE -31ST MAY 2018

NOTICE TO ALL USED MOTOR VEHICLE EXPORTERS, IMPORTERS AND DEALERS.

UNBS  is  mandated  to  protect  the  health  and  safety  of  our  environment  and Ugandans through the implementation and enforcement of compulsory Uganda Standards.

Used  motor  vehicles  imported  into  the  country  are  assessed  against  the  US 845:2008 –Road vehicles —Code of practice for inspection and testing of used motor vehicles for roadworthiness, a compulsory Uganda Standard.

All used motor vehicles shipped after the 1/06/2018 will be inspected for roadworthiness here in the country (Destination  inspection) by UNBS inspectors prior to their release from the Customs controlled areas until further notice. This  is  in line with the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (Inspection and Clearance of Imports) Regulations 2018.

UNBS will still recognise valid certificates of Roadworthiness issued by East Africa  Automobile  (EAA),  Jabal  Kilimanjaro  Auto  Mech.  or  Japan  Export Vehicle Inspection Centre (JEVIC) before the 1/06/2018.
